Dr. Angie Kim received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Massachusetts and an assistant professor of counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Her clinical skills and expertise are in treatment of clients in community mental health settings, particularly with marginalized populations. She also has a long-standing passion for behavioral health prevention and intervention working with the Korean immigrant population in churches. Her primary research area is studying factors that influence underutilization of mental health services by Koreans and Korean Americans as well as examining the roles of churches and pastors in increasing mental health awareness and care. She loves MSG and its mission to educate Korean churches about mental health and access to services.
Dr. Hanna Chung is married to Pastor Joseph Chung at Remnant Church, which is located in the heart of New York City. They have two sons, Jedidiah and Jeremiah. Dr. Chung is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and also teaches at HIS University where she graduated with a Ph.D. in Family Ministry. Her heart is to transform one soul at a time through relationships in ministry, counseling, and teaching. She holds on to 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Jessica Kim is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and certified clinical trauma professional with over 15 years of experience providing therapy for youth, adults, and families. She received her bachelor's in Psychology from Rutgers University, master's in social work from Columbia University, and completed a post master's fellowship in youth mental health at Yale University Child Study Center. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Social Welfare at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests include racialized trauma and culturally reflexive mental health practice for Asian Americans. Jessica loves MSG because it understands that the role of the Korean church in serving the mental health needs of its body is biblical.
Rev. Dr. John Huh is passionate and excited about the restoration and renewal of the mental, emotional, and spiritual health of people. As a bilingual, bi-cultural Korean American, he is active in the community and in academia as an ordained pastor, a counselor, and a professor. Some of his research interests include pastoral care and counseling in the Asian American context, positive psychology, and church planting and development. When he's not working, you'll find him hanging out with his family, coaching sports teams, and playing basketball and golf.
Dr. Samuel Y. Kim is an Associate Professor at Texas Woman's University where he trains students in the field of School Psychology. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Emory University and his Ph.D. from Georgia State University. In addition to being a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, he has worked in a variety of settings such as schools, community mental health clinics, and university clinics in Georgia, Michigan, Kentucky, and Texas and provided a range of psychological services, including counseling, assessment, and consultation. His research interests include positive psychology, psychological measurement, bullying, and Korean American mental health. He loves MSG for the amazing people.
